After Aiur was overrun by the Zerg, the Protoss lost their holy shrine dedicated to the construction of Dragoons to Zerg infestation. Being short of one of their major powers on the battlefield, the remaining Dragoons were refitted into new exoskeletons – the Immortals. These new ‘suits’ are equipped with a particular shield which activates only when high-magnitude attacks hit the Immortal, like the Arclite Cannons of the Terran Siege Tanks. This new barrier clearly shows the Immortals’ importance as to how keeping them alive is essential to the Protoss. The Immortal exoskeleton has two powerful cannons which do much damage, but unfortunately cannot punish air targets.
