The dome-shaped Command Center is the polestar of any Terran settlement, being the key structure of economy and advancement. The Terran workers, the Space Construction Vehicles (SCV), are constructed there and it is there that they drop off mineral shards and vespene gas-filled drums.
The Command Center is such an important structure that it has been constructed, like a lot of Terran buildings, with the capability to lift-off and fly away. This function is very useful for Command Centers cost much and take time to be built. Therefore, a Command Center may flee and land out of harm's way, or relocate to a new mineral vein when its current one has depleted. As an addition it has been refitted with some space to allow five SCVs to stay inside while it is in transit, searching for an appropriate spot for a base. Another recent feature added to the Command Center is its ability to upgrade into either a Planetary Fortress or a Surveillance Station.

Abilities
Lift-Off
Most Terran structures are built with vertical and lateral thrusters and integrated engines to allow them to propel themselves skywards and soar. This offers great tactical advantage the other races lack. In case of Barracks, Factories and Starports, liftoff allows these to switch addons.

Convert to Surveillance Station
Command Centers have been redesigned and built so as to be able of converting into a Surveillance Station. Once converted, it cannot turn back to a conventional Command Center, and loses the capacity to liftoff.
