The Baneling is a small suicidal creature which morphs from the Zergling. Filled with explosive chemicals and corrosive acids, it is the perfect weapon against massed ground targets.
Banelings and Zerglings together make a deadly combination. A small Zergling force would act as cannon fodder while the Banelings would move up close to their targets and explode. This strategy is very effective because the Baneling's corrosive acids do not harm other friendly Zerg in the succeeding explosion.
